EV and hybrid

High-voltage trained, with a bay of its own

From
£79
How long
Usually half a day

Our fourth bay is set up for electric and hybrid cars, with insulated tools and a lockout station. Two of our technicians hold high-voltage qualifications.

An electric car’s brakes do less work than a petrol car’s, so they rust instead of wearing out. We clean and check them at every visit.

What we check and do

  • A battery health report on every cell block
  • Cooling system, high-voltage cables and connectors inspected
  • Brakes cleaned and checked (they rust when regeneration does the work)
  • Cabin filter, wipers and the 12-volt battery
  • Servicing that keeps the maker's warranty

Typical jobs

  • A battery health check before buying a used EV
  • A hybrid service at 40,000 miles
  • Seized rear brakes on an electric hatchback

Questions

Do electric cars need servicing?

Less than petrol ones, but yes: brakes, suspension, cooling and the high-voltage system all need checking, usually every two years.

Can you check a battery before I buy?

Yes. The report shows the battery's state of health and any weak cell blocks, in about an hour.
